The previous weeks I had a difficult time as a highly sensitive entrepreneur. I worked hard on the new products, the production samples were tested, the feedback was super positive. Everything was ready to meet the contractually agreed date of September 5. That day the products would come to Belgium.

De vorige weken had ik het moeilijk als hoogsensitief ondernemer. Ik werkte hard aan de nieuwe producten, de productiestalen werden getest, de feedback was super positief. Alles was klaar om de contractueel afgesproken datum van 5 september te halen. Die dag zouden de producten naar België komen.

About 2 weeks ago I got the message that there is a delay in production. This news was very difficult for me as highly sensitive person. A word is a word, an agreement is an agreement. I am someone who always keeps her word, unless I cannot control certain preconditions myself. Now let this be one of the many beautiful characteristics of highly sensitive people. Recognizable?

Een 2-tal weken geleden kreeg ik het bericht dat er een vertraging is bij de productie. Als hoogsensitief persoon heb ik het daar erg moeilijk mee. Een woord is een woord, een afspraak is een afspraak. Zelf ben ik iemand die zijn woord altijd houd, tenzij ik bepaalde randvoorwaarden zelf niet in de hand heb. Laat dit nu één van de vele mooie kenmerken van hoogsensitieve personen zijn. Herkenbaar?

I had the most trouble with the idea that moms and dads are now longer fighting their sensitive child about stinging clothes, annoying seams, labels,…. And the well-known scenes about socks that I would have liked to have stopped at the beginning of September. Because I can literally imagine that feeling as an HSP, it gnaws much harder than the contractual agreement on the timing that is not fulfilled and the fact that I lose 1 month of sales as a small company.

Het meeste moeite had  ik met het idee dat mama’s en papa’s nu langer de strijd aan gaan met hun gevoelig kind over prikkende kleding, vervelende naden, etiketten,…. En de gekende scènes over sokken die ik graag begin september gestopt had. Omdat ik mij dat gevoel als HSP letterlijk kan inbeelden, knaagt dat veel harder nog dan de afspraak in verband met de timing die niet nagekomen wordt en het feit dat ik 1 maand verkoop verlies als kleine onderneming.

Fortunately, I am also positive and I look forward to what is possible. I was promised to receive a small amount of socks around October 6th. Hopefully it will stay warm enough and the sandals can stay on until then… For the soft underwear and soft T-shirts I expect to start sales by October 30th.

Gelukkig ben ik ook positief ingesteld en kijk ik vooruit naar wat wel mogelijk is. Ik kreeg de belofte een kleine hoeveelheid sokken te ontvangen rond 6 oktober. Hopelijk blijft het voldoende warm en kunnen de sandalen tot dan nog even aanblijven… Voor het zacht ondergoed en de zachte T-shirts verwacht ik de verkoop tegen 30 oktober te kunnen starten.

Despite the disappointment about the timing, I think about the result that I am proud of. The mothers of the children who tested the samples immediately asked if they could already buy the samples. That reassures me that waiting a little longer will not deter SAM fans.

Ondanks de tegenvaller over de timing trek ik mij op aan het resultaat waar ik fier op ben. De mama’s van de kinderen die de stalen getest hebben vroegen direct of ze de stalen al konden kopen. Dat stelt mij gerust dat iets langer wachten de SAM fans niet gaat afschrikken.
